Our Services
Our services are focused on illuminating the way to utopia for individuals and society.
Individuals
Our work with individuals is focused on healing of the mind, body and spirit. With
respect to the mind, we teach how the TOC Thinking Processes (TP) are a powerful
method for developing critical thinking skills. The TP enable individuals to effectively:
- Achieve their goal in life,
- Address the root cause of the negative effects existing in their lives,
- Know what actions to take to either remove these effects or achieve some ambitious
target they have set, and
- How to overcome the obstacles to causing the change desired and planned for.
With respect to the body, we share lessons on how to effectively take care of our
bodies. We also share knowledge on what to do to achieve excellent health and well-being.
Regarding spirit, we share how to connect with your spirit - how to determine what
your purpose is in this life.
One of the ways we focus on helping individuals is through the use of animals, such
as horses. Some people are aware that people (both adults and children) have been
helped with physical and mental issues through therapeutic riding. Many are not
aware of the ability of horses to help us with psychological issues and how to improve
our lives even when we do not have psychological issues. Equine-assisted psychotherapy
is a powerful method of combining the use of horses with a psychologist to help
people as individuals or in small groups such as those with addictions (such as
alcohol or drugs) and those suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD),
such as rape victims and veterans. Finally, anyone can be helped through Equine-Assisted
Learning (EAL). For example, EAL is an effective method for helping someone identify
limiting behaviors and beliefs in their lives and how to change them.
Society
Our work with society is focused on helping improve the lives of people in general
or in groups and those of animals, in addition to improving nature or our environment.
TOC is a powerful method for improving society. TOC has been adopted in various
educational systems in the world (for more information on K through 12 education
adoption and a great oversome of some of the TOC Thinking Processes, see www.tocforeducation.com).
The entire country of Malaysia has spent the past few years implementing the adoption
of TOC as critical thinking skills at each level of education. For more information
on this, see the TOC handbook to be published soon by McGraw-Hill at
Illuminutopia. One of the chapters presents this success story. Another
chapter of this book presents the use of TOC to improve the ability to juveniles
in the justice system in Singapore to become successful members of society.
With respect to animals, our initial focus is on the plight of horses and dolphins.
People fought to ensure that horses no longer could be killed to become meat for
other animals. this was a good thing to do. However, the negative side effect of
this action is that many horses have suffered after being released into the wild.
See the following video to understand how much they are suffering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FWefEkv85Q
What about how horses are trained and treated by us? Should we make sure that they
are leading good lives? To consider this issue, read the Natural Horse Magazine article and check out the Nevzorov Haute Ecole web site. You might
want to read Nevzorov's book in English when it is published and/or watch some of
his videos as well. The travelling show, Cavalia, is amazing. It is like a Cirque
du Soleil show with horses. The way the horses are treated and what they do is phenomenal.
Learn more about it at www.cavalia.net. Even if you can't see the show, you can
learn more through their site or by purchasing their DVD or other materials.
The 2009 documentary, The Cove, is a great movie showing how much dolphins are suffering
because of humans - both in captivity and being killed. Swimming with dolphins is
a great experience for humans. But is it reasonable for us to keep dolphins in captivity
if they are not leading good lives? See the movie and decide for yourself.
